Vikas graduated from IIT Delhi, Biochemical Engineering dual degree program (integrated 5 year M.Tech.) in 2011. After working as a business analyst for a few years in a corporate, he joined back IITD as a Ph.D. student and has also co-founded a technology spin-off company called Valetude Primus Healthcare Pvt Ltd. This startup is presently incubated at IITD.
Towards his Ph.D. thesis, Vikas is working on an applied optics and image processing project in which he is designing a low-cost, compact mechano-optical device for high-resolution imaging of biological samples. The device works on the principles of both scattering and total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) illumination which is useful for biodiagnostic applications. The cTIRF optical set-up is targeted for handheld ELISA and high signal-to-noise ratio low fluorescence detection systems. Vikas is co-guided by Dr. Ravi Elangovan’s group in Biochemical Engineering @ IITD.
