Priyanshu is a 2nd year M.Tech. student working on the detection of neurotransmitters for Alzheimer’s disease using electrochemical sensing. Alzheimer’s is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that reduces the formation of acetylcholine from the cortex and causes progressive memory loss and language and psychological impairment. The disease usually starts slow and deteriorates over time. Studies show that there are as many as 21 biomarkers in the blood affected due to this condition. The aim of Priyanshu’s project is to select the most promising biomarkers that show concentration-dependant changes in potential and detect these using cyclic or differential pulse voltammetry.
